Interview with line artist Victoria Rusyn
- Hi Victoria, can you tell us more about yourself?
Hello! My name is Victoria Rusyn, a line art artist and designer. I am 31 years old and I live and work in Lutsk, Ukraine. For now, I am happily married to a loving husband, and we have a little girl.
I have been doing line illustration for three years. But my career as a designer started ten years ago. Since I was a kid, I have always loved drawing. And being a designer is a dream come true.
- How do you first get into the art industry?
I studied at art school. Then I went to university, majoring in design. I have always been active in art and creation through these years, participating in exhibitions, competitions, and Olympiads.
After graduation, I worked as a photographer, printing designer, wall painter, and brusher, and now it’s the line art.
- You are known as the artist of line art. How do you develop this particular style of your own?
I love minimalism, so I tried to draw in the style of one line, and I was good at this. Then I started publishing my art. And since then, clients and customers have started coming.

- Has your style changed, or have you always created in the same style?
Yes. I’m constantly experimenting with the line, combining different styles, like I had a series of surreal illustrations. I also tried boho style and Picasso style. He inspired me to start drawing in a linear style.
- What are your goals as an artist?
I want to become world-famous and change the world with my work. And I would love to venture into the fashion industry as well, and maybe work for Dior or Chanel.
- What would you tell yourself if you can go back to when you first started?
Draw more, and I believe in you.
- Is it challenging to learn a new art style? How do you keep yourself motivated?
I taught myself to draw line arts. But I also have a solid foundation of art education at art school and college. They taught me about composition and anatomy, which helped me a lot in my work.
In terms of motivation, frankly, I never motivate myself on purpose. I love drawing; it’s my hobby, work, and inspiration for life. And I rarely force myself. If I do, the result might not be great.
So I guess when you are passionate about what you are doing, you don’t need the motivation to keep you going. That’s why I am grateful for my profession.
- What makes creating art so important to you?
When I begin to create something, I never know how it will come out. And if it’s good and I love the final product, the joy and the sense of accomplishment will keep me motivated for the next ten days.
And that’s the magic of art. Every time you sit down at your computer to draw, you start a new journey leading to a beautiful new world. And you can let your imagination run wild because, for creativity, the sky is the limit.
And also, the love of my customers makes my job meaningful.
- What is one artwork that you are the proudest of? Why?
I think I might not have created it yet. The best is yet to come. But there is one that people love the most, which is named “A Woman with Butterflies“.

Strangely, I have a lot of similar illustrations on the subject. But it just got the most popularity.
- What is your advice for someone that just started to learn drawing or create art?
Just listen to your mind and heart, draw a lot, and see a lot if you are starting to draw. Look everywhere – people, internet, movies, travel, phones, inspiration, and new ideas. The point is to keep an open mind and always learn.
