10 Good Morning Quotes To Make Today The Best Day Ever

A list of good morning quotes and morning reminders to set a positive tone for the day

I used to hate mornings. 6 am to me was not the beginning but the end of a day. And for the days that I woke before 9 am, I would spend every possible minute on bed scrolling through social feeds. Instead of living intentionally, I let the days go by.

It was not until I started to work from home that I realized the magic of mornings. My minds are more active, and my senses are enlightened. I can write an entire blog post in 2 hours in the morning. And it wouldn’t be possible with double the time in the afternoon.

Adopting a healthy morning routine changes my day. My productivity, my focus, and my mood have all benefited from this little shift. But yet, sometimes, I still hit the snooze button. Mel Robbins pushes herself to get up by counting down from 5 in her head. She calls it the 5-second rule. When the countdown is over, she launches herself out of bed and ends the useless mental struggles.

Sounds a little bit extreme? Then what I did may work for you. I replace social media scrolling with good morning quotes that speak to me. These can be motivational morning messages or any quotes that ponder. Either way, they set a positive tone for the entire day.

Here is a list of morning reminders I read first thing in the morning. If you are struggling to get up, these good morning quotes may be the sip of motivation you need.

Cheery quotes to read first thing in the morning

A morning reminder

Do one thing every day that scares you.
– Eleanor Roosevelt

It can be saying no to an unreasonable request or taking up a new project by yourself. Small challenges make a brave soul.

A good morning quote for yourself

You think, I'm not going to make it, but you laugh inside - remembering all the times you've felt that way. - Charles Bukowski

Sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning, and you think, I’m not going to make it, but you laugh inside – remembering all the times you’ve felt that way. – Charles Bukowski

What you tell yourself is not always true. Sometimes we can be our own bully. The lies we tell ourselves may be, as Charles Bukowski said, “I’m not going to make it.” For you, they can be “my boss will be mad at my performance,” “I will never land on that job,” or “I will make a fool of myself at the meeting today.”

These negative statements are not facts. Will they happen? Maybe yes, and maybe not. Sabotaging your mood for the maybes is not worth it. But when you do believe you can make it, you will start to make it.

A thought-provoking good morning quote

Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.
– Meister Eckhart

Put your ego out of the way. It is not the glorious old days that will move your forward; it’s a humble heart and the spirit to never stop learning.

A motivational quote to read in the morning

Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.
– Mahatma Gandhi

Living in the moment is more than a slogan. Part of it is about learning from the past and breaking away from its chains. This quote from Gandhi perfectly sums it up.

The morning is not just the beginning of a new day; it can be the start of a new life. If yesterday doesn’t go very well, today is the second chance to make the change.

A quote to ponder on a bad day

Happiness is not the absence of problems; it’s the ability to deal with them.
– Steve Maraboli

A good morning quote that inspires gratitude

When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love. - A good morning quote that inspires gratitude

When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love.
– Marcus Aurelius

Gratitude is a powerful antidote to anxiety and negativity. Sometimes we are so used to having the essentials that we forget being alive itself is a gift. The air, a roof over our heads, and the time we got to spend with our loved ones…If you stop taking these things for granted and start appreciating them, even the most dreaded mornings become beautiful.

A quote to stop overthinking

The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.
– Eckhart Tolle

Overthinking and false assumptions kill joy and extinguish sparks. Don’t be the one that stands in your own way.

Guided by the sparks

A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between, he does what he wants to do.
– Bob Dylan

Passion fuels motivation. Maybe you don’t actually hate mornings. It may be your job that you are dreading. But not all of us have the privilege to make money doing what we love.

If you can’t turn your passion into a job, make your job your passion. Document your achievements, however small they are. Track your growth and celebrate. Identify the small tasks that you actually want to accomplish. If you can’t change your job, train your brain to love the better parts of it.

A morning affirmation for dream-chasers

It is never too late to be what you might have been. - A morning affirmation for dream-chasers

It is never too late to be what you might have been.
– George Eliot

You are not too old to start again or to find your passion. Don’t put an expiration date on yourself. Start from today, start from this morning. And you’ll be proud of who you are 10 years from now.

A morning quote to set your mind free

This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all.
– Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi

You can do a million things if you put your mind to them. But what you can’t do is to predict the future and get everything under control. It’s not only impossible, but it also consumes your mental strength, lying your resilience in idle.

Instead, try to appreciate the uncertainty of life. Uncertainty can be a risk, and it can also be a chance. Believe in yourself that you can handle what is coming. And free your mind from what is out of your control.

Be the latter

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
– Albert Einstein

The ones that believe in miracles are the ones that will create miracles.
