24 Me-time Quotes To Make The Most Of Your Time Alone

Your alone-time can revive your body and soul. Learn how to make full use of it and not feel guilty with these me-time quotes.

I live by myself most of the time. So, in short, me-time is not a luxury for me. But when the family gathers during the holiday season, it is a different case.

I often find myself sitting in my room or taking overly long walks outside the house. The level of crowdedness, especially during holidays, is not something I am used to.

And I used to feel guilty for acting like a loner. I am worried that my family and friends may think that I dodge them intentionally. They may blame me for not being around 24/7.

But what I discovered from years of sitting alone on the bench outside my house is that those that love you respect your need for time and space.

And also, you don’t need an entire day alone to recharge, even when you are an introvert. You can always sneak in 20 minutes by yourself to restore your sanity – you can have your me-time and still be there for others.

So if you have felt guilty about spending time alone or struggle to make more time for yourself, here is a list of me-time quotes for you. But let’s talk about the meaning of me-time first, so we are on the same page.

What is me-time actually?

When I was drafting this post, I checked Urban Dictionary to see how others define me-time. (Because it’s the Internet, and why not?)

So in one definition, me-time is referred to as “the quality time that self-absorbed narcissists set aside for themselves.” Others define it as a time to abuse for entertainment or self-pleasuring.

The definitions make me giggle and sad at the same time. Initially, me-time stands for the time you spend alone. And how you use it, for good or bad, is totally up to you. But as its popularity grows, it gets abused and demonized.

For me, I like to put the meaning of me-time this way. It’s the time when you take a break from people and things around you. Those may include your partner, your children, family, friends, and work obligations.

It’s the time dedicated to yourself. Whether you use it to binge on TV or to read a book or both, it’s totally up to you.

And how you enjoy your alone time doesn’t have to make sense to others. As long as you feel more energetic and refreshed after it, it has served its purpose.

In general, me-time is not selfish or even narcissistic. It’s not an excuse to escape responsibilities, but a chance to recharge so you can take care of them better later.
